In that line, it is an attempt at another interpretation. But Ganesha threw in questions like what form, and extent of abstraction.

The search led to Tamil literature for an answer. Mark came across a lesser-known version, the Balachandirer. An avatar of Ganesha who tamed Akinan, a rakshas by swallowing him, and to quench the heat he adorned the cool crescent on his forehead. The sculpture intended to depict this pensive mood of demolishing the rakshas (bad elements) and ascertaining that all will be well. The sculpture that is hand clasped is the result of a conversation where gratitude is expressed by rakshas and welcome again is pleasantly expressed by Lord Ganesha. It also portrays the tradition of the land where gratitude and welcoming again are a unified part.
